Hello everyone, For school and freelance projects I often need to generate 3D renders. To save time I run these on a separate machine (rendernode/slave connected to my home network). Yesterday my Windows asked for a username and password but I couldn't locate it anywhere. After hours of searching online, I tried several solutions: - In advanced sharing settings (translated for Dutch audience), secure sharing with password disabled, 40-bits & 56-bits encryption enabled, connections managed through a homegroup controlled by Windows. This didn’t work. - Using Credential Manager, removing all existing credentials and adding new ones for the PC I want to connect. I followed these steps: Network address: my IP Username: computer name to connect to Password: password of the target machine. Then something unexpected happened. I managed to connect from the slave to the workstation, but not vice versa. When prompted by Windows for a network username and password, I entered the values that worked for the slave, yet failed to connect. Please let me know if there are other ways to resolve this issue. Also, my apologies if this isn’t the right context. Best regards, Hero

Thank you for your response! I followed all your instructions carefully. However, it didn't function properly on my machine. It took about 6 seconds before Windows indicated an error. Usually it should happen instantly—wrong! It seems there might be a mistake. To confirm, I’ll share some additional details: the system properties show the renderer's computer name as Gebruiker-PC, and when I ran `echo %username%` it displayed "Gebruiker" with the password 123ABC. I logged in using that username and password. Could you verify if I did everything correctly or if there were any errors?

It seems uncertain about the accuracy. You may need to try connecting from the opposite direction—Gebruiker-PC to your workstation.

I've tested it multiple times using all possible methods. Still, it doesn't work. I also cleared the password on my Renderslave—it's not linked to any keyboard or mouse. Now it displays: No access to \\GEBRUIKER-PC. You have no access to \\GEBRUIKER-PC. Please contact your network manager for assistance. This suggests I'm getting closer to solving the issue.

It's not common. Have you attempted a system reset on both machines? Connecting via IP addresses instead of names could also help, even if the login details remain unchanged.

I've resolved it. *Reminder: I'm Dutch and use Windows, so I had to translate all the right paths.* For those facing similar issues, try these steps:
- Open control panel → Network & Internet → NetwerkCenter → Adapter Settings
- Pick your network (Wi-Fi/LAN) and click right-click → Properties
- Turn off Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
This worked for me.
