I'm helping you fix your grandpa's computer after the hard drive issue. You have Windows 7 Home Premium installed but no installation media. The only key you have is the product key from Microsoft. To get Windows back, you might need to contact ASUS support or use a different installation method since they don't provide ISO downloads. Check with ASUS for assistance or explore alternative ways to reinstall Windows.

The Chrome logo appears beautifully when flipped upside down. Just download the ISO from GetIntoPC, use Rufus or extract it to a flash drive and you should succeed.

This depends on having the product key available during setup, which I don't always get when performing fresh installs.

It seems OEM keys restrict downloading Windows directly from Microsoft, only suggesting reaching out to the manufacturer for a backup drive.

Start recording your product key and store it securely. Avoid downloading from external sites; prefer official sources.

I've seen similar comments from several tech websites, though I haven't tried an OEM machine myself. Such restrictions seem odd because the activation code and image files are genuine.

I purchased an OEM Windows version for my build, and fresh installs have worked without problems. It could be restricted at the BIOS level then.

I store it as a JPEG screenshot on my drive, never touching it during Windows updates. It always retains its original content unless it fails, which would be rare. It’s also a friend’s key—though his account was deleted—and I can reach out if needed.
