I recently set up Windows 7 (64 bit) and can now sleep my PC, but it won’t fully power on when I press the sleep button. Everything turns off except the fans, yet pressing any key makes them spin again. The screen stays blank with no display. My system boots from a Samsung 128GB SSD but nothing appears. The specs are i5-4690k, 16GB RAM, GTX 980, and I’m seeking advice on the boot drive. Thanks for your help!

Microsoft has stopped offering support for Windows 7, so you might want to consider updating or switching to a more recent version.

It was a variation of Windows with the source code available, and this time it was a full reinstall.

01. Identify the device that can activate your PC via CMD. Use the command `powercfg -devicequery wake_armed` to see which devices are set to wake your machine. If your keyboard or mouse isn't listed, turn on the “Allow this device to wake the computer” option in your system settings... 02. Prevent Windows from shutting down USB peripherals by default. The operating system usually puts them into sleep mode to conserve energy, but sometimes it can’t restore them. 03. Activate USB wake functionality within your computer’s BIOS settings. This should assist you with the issue...

Thank you for your response. I’ve completed those steps already. My keyboard can wake the computer by spinning the fans when I press any key, but nothing appears on the screen. I’ve also disabled the power-down of USB devices and couldn’t locate the USB wakeup option in the BIOS.

Microsoft's backing for Windows 7 lasts through 2020. The system will remain operational well beyond that date as well.
