It seems some issues arise when updates aren't applied promptly. Windows 7 Home Premium can cause certain parts to stop functioning if you delay restarting during installation. There have been instances where USB ports refused to recognize external drives after installation, but they worked again once updated. Often the Wi-Fi adapter is affected until a patch is applied.

My Windows 7 laptop often resents me if I don’t keep it updated quickly enough. But I believe that’s the right approach. Updates usually fix issues and close security vulnerabilities, which is why Microsoft seems to encourage it. It might be the case with Windows 8.1 as well—just stick with version 7 or 10 if you have them.

I've encountered the same scenario before, and it seems you have too. The update installation didn't go very well, or there might be an HDD error on your system. Try scanning your PC to check for issues and use the recovery disc to improve performance and refresh the system. Mostly, just refreshing Windows 7 works. Regarding Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, they have limited security features. Windows 7 remains more secure compared to the others, and Microsoft has acknowledged this. With Windows 10, security is a major focus. In summary, don't rush updates—take your time and ensure they go smoothly. These issues can happen sometimes.

Absolutely, I understand. They did take time to patch vulnerabilities over several months, so it makes sense your device functioned normally after the update.

Hate this software so much! Windows 8 should be destroyed, maybe with a fire. I might have to switch to 8.1 on the new system, though. Unless version 10 comes with some amazing powers.

Usually, Microsoft launches a product once, sometimes it doesn't work, and then it's done again... Like Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, maybe even 10.

They should try Windows 10 with great Xone options, but not in the same way as Windows 8 felt. Buying a touchscreen device is fine if you have one, otherwise it's okay. Let's start working on Windows 8. I mean, there was someone in my class who claimed touchscreens are the future, and I asked what that meant, and he said everyone would eventually use glass touchscreen keyboards. That was the most ridiculous idea I ever heard. Microsoft, don't go that far.
