Windows 7 fresh installation doesn't recognize the thumb drive.
I have just installed windows 7 pro onto my pc and im trying to install all the motherboard and video card drives through my usb because my pc doesnt have an optical drive but the system isnt recognizing the usb so it isnt showing up. does anyone have a fix for this apart from upgrading to windows 8 or 10
Check for a USB 3.0 connection. If available, switch to a USB 2.0 port. Utilize the back panel ports on the motherboard instead of the front I/O area unless you're already doing so.
What is the motherboard issue? It appears that older systems only support USB2.0 ports, and even then, because modern boards use a USB3.0 controller, basic keyboards and mice won’t work. I’ve experienced this recently. The only solution is to download the USB 3.0 drivers from a disc or install them online if possible. It looks like the Ethernet driver hasn’t updated either.
i5 7500 Kaby Lake from Asus H110M-A with M.2 16GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM, 1TB HDD GTX1060, 6D Noctua NHDL14 fan.
The only solution to make USB or Ethernet function is using an optical disc drive. Or you can reinstall your operating system and add the drivers onto the installation media.
Kaby Lake and Windows 7 aren't compatible. Microsoft stopped providing updates for Windows 7 and 8 on these systems, so you need to switch to Windows 10 to receive support.
