Windows 11 on an old Toshiba laptop shuts down just when you update or change your user account settings.
Hello, I’m dealing with a puzzling issue with my old Toshiba laptop. It runs Windows 10 Home smoothly after a clean install using the Media Creation Tool and a bootable USB. However, whenever I try to update or change settings—like going into user account settings—I notice the machine shuts down instantly. After restarting, it returns to the login screen and turns off again. This cycle keeps happening, except after a fresh installation. Unlike other users who’ve had success with less demanding systems, my setup isn’t working as expected. I’m hearing a clicking sound when it powers off, but that doesn’t seem to help. I’m hoping someone can suggest a solution or point me in the right direction.
I also removed all partitions during the initial installation, the first two times I did a fresh setup. On the third attempt I set up two partitions. If I can, I’ll try again soon. The laptop is now working with Windows 10, but I haven’t applied the updates yet—just in case things change!
