Laptop model:
Asus ROG Scar 15
already faced problems with Windows 10 on this device. After switching to Windows 11 Pro, I performed a clean installation and disabled all update settings via gpedit, services, startup, task scheduler, and even removed and renamed certain executables and folders. Yet, this machine still forced an update—appearing as a reset for the task scheduler—prompting a Microsoft update and Microsoft Edge update, despite deleting Edge completely. Now my secondary M.2 drive is missing.

I previously used a driver booster to try reading the first Windows 10 build, but it failed. That’s when I reinstalled a fresh Windows 11 cleanly, turned off Windows Update entirely, and removed most bloatware. Everything seems fine now except for this issue. About four hours ago, a forced update occurred, and I also disabled the tooltip style pop-up on the left-click "wifi volume and battery" icon in the taskbar—no effect at all.

I’m frustrated with Microsoft’s support for ASUS and AMD.
Ryzen 9 5900HX
32GB Kingston Fury 3200
RTX 3080
Expected to be the original 1TB M.2 stick that came with the laptop, but my secondary is an Intel 660P 2TB M.2 that was only used at 1% before being removed from my main PC. Not critical, but I’m not planning another reinstall like everyone else seems to do without hesitation.

I still have significant saved data, though it doesn’t appear in Windows Tools or Device Manager. Nothing functions properly. When I attempted Windows Recovery before it fully appeared, it showed 0 files and indicated the drive wasn’t accessible.

I just wish my drive would behave like it does on every other Intel PC I’ve owned so far. But I know Microsoft has already discontinued Windows since 2018, yet this situation is becoming increasingly unbearable.

You performed a clean installation update on Windows 11 Pro and disabled all automatic updates from various services. The installer for the OS was obtained from the manufacturer's support site, using the latest version. You also reinstalled drivers manually in an elevated command prompt. Make sure to verify if your laptop has any pending BIOS updates.

I created a bootable USB from an old Windows 11 repository. It was updated two months ago and then everything was disabled, but it functioned until the latest update that shouldn’t have been permitted. This wasn’t a regular Windows update; it can’t be uninstalled or identified. I’m trying to determine what triggered the update yesterday, how it was enabled, and its origin. The Asus website doesn’t provide drivers for the storage controller, especially standalone ones—last updates were from 2022/2023. I don’t have a standalone version available. I might need to disassemble it, remove it, and reinstall to see if it gets detected. Is it accurate that Windows bypasses its policies? I notice Windows still checks for updates even after blocking all communication to servers, including telemetry, reporting, or remote access.

this asus task restarts itself, others did too after adjusting the trigger, but since it exists it won’t redo anything. it seems to be a driver checker and clearly what damaged the storage driver and also affected the tooltip popup on the taskbar. I haven’t seen any other changes. i plan to copy and examine the folder soon.

Uninstalled, restarted, and then reinstalled the M.2 SSD, it took longer to load and showed a Windows loading circle, but still didn’t detect the drive. The disk management never listed a second drive. Any direct link to a storage driver would be helpful. This is really frustrating dealing with problems like this—it’s probably the last time I buy an ASUS/AMD product.

The device displays issues but hasn't been functioning properly before. It appears the port is faulty, and the laptop hasn't been moved in at least a week. The recent update seems to have damaged my port. I didn't realize it had my 2600 song backup, which is now my sole backup besides my game files. I can't update the driver at all. Turning it off and back on causes the file explorer to freeze for about three minutes, and the port still shows as non-functional. I haven't clicked any suspicious links or received phishing emails. If AMD or ASUS had a comparable storage driver like Intel, it would be great. Or maybe I'm missing something simple?

No solution, probably I need to try a different M.2 option if possible. Won't be handling this Asus AMD again definitely.

It seems there might be a conflicting information about the presence of an Intel SSD driver. The image appears to show a driver for an Intel SSD, but the context suggests otherwise.
