Windows 11 icons changed to simple squares
Windows 11 icons changed to simple squares
Hey everyone
The icons on the startup screen have changed into squares. I think this is connected to the "Segoe" font.
What I did:
- Reinstalled the "Segoe" font collection from a different Windows 11 folder, but it didn’t fix it.
- Removed the previous version from the old fonts directory.
I’m asking for your help to resolve this problem.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! If I were you, I'd have carried out a system restore to a stage before the problem occurred (possibly following an OS update), saved important files, and then prepared for a fresh OS installation after recreating the bootable USB with Windows Media Creation Tools.
Hi, thank you for your message.
It seems I haven't carried out any system restore after installing Windows, and if I had, I wouldn't plan to back up anymore.
I think there should be a feasible way to handle this without backing up the system.
Consider setting up a new Windows user account. Also, try using DISM and SFC.
