Hello everyone, I recently upgraded my PC to Windows 11 and noticed some problems. I adjusted the netplwiz settings so it doesn’t ask for a password or PIN at startup, but now an unauthorized user keeps appearing during the first boot. Their login details match your main profile, which is unexpected. Additionally, I’m forced to re-enter my PIN each time I turn on the computer. Both users share the same name, and anyone with suggestions on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Netplwiz no longer supports automatic login since the release of Windows 10. The feature was removed. It seems you likely used a method through the registry (still functional) or via the built-in tool AutoLogon. If you upgraded to Windows 11 or later versions of Windows 10, ensure everything is configured correctly. First, open the Registry Editor (regedit). Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon. Verify DefaultUserName matches your account name without extra spaces. Run Command Prompt and type 'whoami /user' to see your account ID (SID). Confirm DefaultDomainName matches your computer's name. Check that the option "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up after an update" is disabled. If you changed your password, disable this option again and reset it afterward.

You're correct, it was configured prior to the Windows 11 upgrade. It appears the feature remains available for you. Thank you for bringing this up.

My account is tied to Microsoft and I'm using Windows 11 Pro. That might be what sets it apart.
