Hey everyone, we've been working hard to assist my cousin with setting up his PC over the past month and a half. We've documented every troubleshooting step, but each time we reach the installation stage it hits 90% and then freezes with a black screen. The machine worked fine at first, but once we tried AMD software for updates it failed to write and again froze. The tricky part is the distance—my cousin is in Japan while I'm on the East Coast. We have a nearly identical build except for Corsair RAM and an AIO cooling system instead of an air cooler. So far, no issues with those parts. Specs: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mPJVGJ (case and GPU omitted since it's not in the case and we're using iGPU). Steps tried: swapped CPU, RAM, updated BIOS to FB3g, applied all XMP/EXPO settings, tested secure boot, tried GPU and non-recommended RAM configs, forced a WinRe mode restart three times, cleared SSD partitions and reinstalled Windows with a key, and attempted both Pro and Home editions.

If installation fails, you can try updating Windows through the Settings app or using the built-in Windows Update feature to check for available updates.

It looks like you followed a specific sequence when setting up Windows—AMD software first, then updating Windows. This order often leads to issues. You might try alternative methods such as generating another installation media, using a different USB drive, switching to another SSD, ensuring Secure Boot is active and legacy support is turned off, confirming TPM 2.0 presence, enabling the iGPU in BIOS, updating your BIOS, clearing CMOS, and more. The problem likely stems from one of these steps not being properly configured. Since I can't access your system, you'll need to troubleshoot these aspects yourself. Good luck!
