Hello everyone. Like many of you, I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 and then reset my PC completely, wiping all drives. Now I have a clean system with Windows 10. To maintain cleanliness, I’m considering antivirus software. Do I really need it, or will Windows Defender suffice? If I choose an antivirus, which one would you recommend? Ideally, the one with the least resource usage and free to download. Thanks and have a great day!

Avast is a solid free option; I rely on it, I use Malwarebytes Premium for extra protection, and basic common sense for virus defense. It hasn't let me down yet.

Always keep it steady, don't go faster than one. I've relied on Windows Defender with Internet Explorer, and the only problems I faced were my own by letting the app execute.

You can operate one in real-time protection and the other as on-demand scanning.

Perform a malware scan on your system using Malwarebites. Afterward, evaluate whether a solution like Bitdefender or Nod32 is suitable for your needs.
