I recently performed a factory reset on my PC and encountered an issue. The Windows became corrupted, so I had to reinstall Windows 10 from a USB drive. Everything functioned normally until the installation neared completion, at which point I had to restart the computer. Each time it restarted, the installation would restart from the beginning. When I first powered on my PC, Dell Support Assistant appeared. This could be related to the problem.

Dell Support Assist aims to assist users by scanning for issues and providing troubleshooting steps. It does not perform a full system scan to detect hidden problems, as it focuses on specific diagnostics. The computer may not have started normally because the Windows 10 installation process encountered a failed hard drive or other corruption. An error occurred during the setup, possibly related to a bad drive that the installation media is attempting to fix. If the machine is older or shows signs of recent corruption, the drive might be faulty and need replacement.

This happens because it restarts from the USB each time. To fix it, disconnect the USB during restart or lower its priority in the boot sequence so it only boots once from the USB.

I believe the support assistant is no longer visible, yet the installation issue persists.

Verify your boot sequence by accessing the BIOS or pressing F11 (standard key) to view the list.

I attempted to disconnect it once it began, but it instantly undid the installation.

I've already handled that. My USB drive is first, and then the hard drive since it has the corrupted Windows files.

Turn off the device while it's rebooting, don't restart the installation again until it's finished.

If it doesn't work, press F12 during the restart and use onboard diagnostics. It's not harmful to try. (No reply was given about the previous message regarding ePSA.)
