Hi there. You're planning to set up Windows 10 on a new machine you're building, but you're worried about compatibility issues. Since you're not an expert, you're being cautious—just focusing on whether it will work for your needs. You mentioned a variety of tasks: modeling, video editing, photo editing, coding, and some gaming (TF2 and CSGO). You're hoping to install build 10162 and want to know if this could cause major problems right now. Overall, based on what you've shared, it seems like you're on the right track and should be fine as long as you double-check the requirements for each application. Good luck!

Hold on for the official launch. It might still be out in a couple more weeks, and you'll end up with it either way. Don't rush to grab the early version just yet.

Wait until the end of the month for the release. The preview is still unstable and could impact your experience. If you're not sure about Windows 10, consider waiting a week or two for more reliable reviews before deciding whether to upgrade or keep using Windows 8.1. Yes, you're overthinking it.

People often treat betas as if they're a full release because early access gives them a chance to experience updates before the official launch, helping them provide feedback and spot issues.

You might want to wait the full 14 days before getting the complete release.

I've been running Windows 10 for a few months as my primary operating system. Besides a few minor issues, everything went smoothly. Currently I'm using version 10166, which you won't find because the previous ISO was 10162 and updates are paused until the 29th. In my view, FPS is better in the latest W10 releases compared to older versions like W8.1. The drivers on earlier builds caused problems, but those issues have been resolved with new W10 drivers. If you haven't tried the Insider Preview yet, consider upgrading instead of doing a clean install to avoid licensing issues. You can wait about two weeks, but it's up to you.
