I'm trying to understand this Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 setup. It has a Ryzen 5 5600h, RTX 3050, and an 85W power supply. I've noticed some issues on Reddit about the GPU being activated by battery changes, especially when opening or closing apps. It seems the GPU only activates briefly during certain actions like right-clicking or changing transparency, which drains the battery quickly. When no app is running, the GPU stays off and the system uses around 8W, but when it does activate, it jumps to about 21W. I'm still unsure how to fix this.

Navigate to settings, then display options, locate the issue app, and choose power-saving GPU preference. If unsuccessful, turn off the dGPU in Device Manager while using battery power.

However, there isn't a dedicated app issue; the GPU is off as reported by NVIDIA. Turning off the dedicated GPU seems to resolve the problem, though it was drawing a high 21W before and now only 8W.

It's always enjoyable when a challenge isn't the same every time. It looks like it's functioning properly now.

The issue of the GPU being activated is consistent, yet turning it off has resolved the problem.
