My mid-2007 MacBook supports booting from USB and installing Windows smoothly. For these devices, Linux is often a better choice because the UEFI isn’t compatible with 64-bit Windows. You’d need a 32-bit Windows 10 version, while a tailored Linux distribution can handle a 64-bit OS. A lightweight desktop like XFCE can boost performance. I successfully set up Windows 10 64 bit on another machine using a customized configuration for a 2,1 Mac Pro and transferred the SSD to a MacBook. The main issue has been failing to install ATi’s video drivers, even for the built-in Intel GMA.
