Hello everyone, Windows 10 version 22H2, build 19045.4291. A brief recap. After updating via Windows Update, my computer restarted and I couldn’t log back in. I tried numerous fixes—command line tools, sfc scannow, DISM, chkdsk, safe mode (no luck), USB repair from the ISO, and even disabling the update service—but nothing worked. As expected, restoring to a point about a day earlier resolved the issue. It really shows how helpful those restore points can be. I’m worried an automatic update might cause this again, so I disabled the Update service. Still, I want Defender definitions kept current. Can I manually download and install them without going through the update process? Any advice would be appreciated.
