Hello everyone, last week I was updating my laptop. The following day I turned it on and the keyboard and mouse stopped working. I’m stuck on the lock screen—the part before you can log in. The time displayed keeps changing, so the screen isn’t frozen. In the BIOS both functions are working. The troubleshoot menu also seems to be operational. I searched online for a fix, but nothing seems to fit my situation. My laptop model is Asus n551jx-cn199h. Note: I’m new here, so please let me know if anything is wrong or missing.

Connecting an external keyboard and allowing it to settle for a few minutes can help ensure it functions properly.

I remained in the same situation. I waited roughly two hours but saw no progress.

I suspect the keyboard and mouse drivers didn't work properly on the Windows 10 approved hardware list. Try repeatedly pressing the F# key to open Windows Recovery Mode, then install the driver using the command prompt and navigate to the CD/DVD drive.

It doesn't affect the use of an external keyboard or mouse.

The recovery mode has no impact. You can install the driver using the command prompt, though I’m not sure of the exact steps. Do you have any idea what command to use?

Check for CMD prompt in Windows (Win10 recovery mode usually includes it). If Explorer or Task Manager appear, proceed with driver reinstall.
