I’ll get straight to it: My PC runs Windows 10 Pro with a Realtek sound card. I deleted the drivers so I could tweak the audio settings myself. But now Windows keeps reinstalling them automatically—really puzzling! I did it for a reason, so help is welcome.

Possibly your motherboard is trying to set up the drivers since it noticed they weren’t present, while Windows automatically installs them during updates. You might be asking why you need Realtek drivers instead.

Start with the latest drivers for Realtek that allow you to maintain Realtek GUI while keeping Windows audio settings. The Realtek 1150 chip performs well in this setup.

You can still access Windows settings through the built-in tools even if the driver isn’t installed. Use the Start menu or search for "Settings" to find the options you need.
