Hey everyone, after many attempts to get my area connected to Fibre by Openreach, BeFibre finally did the job. But today everything on my network is hitting the full 900mbps. My PC, however, caps at around 60mbps for downloads and 2mbps for uploads – that’s a huge gap. I’ve tweaked network settings, swapped cables, changed adapter properties, even disabled something in cmd, but nothing stuck. The interesting side is that when I connect to Wi-Fi, speeds jump to over 400mbps, though I’m far from the router, so I’m not surprised it’s limited. My setup uses a cable running straight from the router into my room and then to a switch, which only gives me 60mbps down and 2mbps up. I’m a bit confused and would really appreciate any advice or help from someone familiar with PC Spec. Thanks!

Brand and model of the modem, along with the switch's make/model, have been noted. Both devices are confirmed to support gigabit speeds. I checked another cable and the results match—probably just the right ones. You mentioned using the same cables; please confirm they’re Cat5E or higher capable. For speed testing, I recommend Speedtest.net for simplicity, though it’s best suited when your storage is fast enough. Otherwise, the bottleneck could come from slower storage.

Verify existing applications, ensuring no QoS tools, bandwidth controls, or similar utilities are present nearby. Different motherboard manufacturers provide ready-to-use solutions that users can configure and leave untouched, which may restrict performance when switching to premium plans.
