I'm facing a typical issue: a fresh Windows 10 installation isn't detecting other Windows 10 machines on the network. While SMB1.0 works for me, I prefer not to use it. On this new 21H1 build, I can see my NAS and a few devices, but to view other Windows 10 boxes I need to enable SMB1.0. Could there be an alternative solution using SMB2 or SMB3?

Your network is set as private across every device. SMB1 should not require activation.

The connection is private. I’m struggling to understand how to proceed to stay safe. The fix is turning on smb1, which appears immediately, but it won’t show up unless smb1 is active.

Verify the Windows File Sharing setting under the Firewall... it seems inactive. The label isn't highlighted with a green checkmark.
