Windows 10 struggles to detect monitor speakers.
Problem: Switching audio output to monitor speakers isn't working in the "Sound" settings anymore. Details: Monitor model View Sonic VX3218C-2K, latest driver from VS installed, CPU Ryzen 5 2600 with stock cooler, GPU Asus ROG Strix RX580 OC (driver 25.5.1), Mobo Asus ROG Strix X470-F Gaming (BIOS 6223 x64), PSU Seasonic GX-750, RAM G. Skill Ripjaws V 16Gx2 3200Mhz, storage WD Blue NVMe 1Tb, OS Windows 10 Pro (up to date as of 05/15/2025), no overclocking. Solutions tried: restarted multiple times, reinstalled drivers, updated all, changed cable from DPI to HDMI, updated Windows. Assistance needed. Note: After connecting the monitor to a laptop, it worked fine. Further research points to the AMD High Definition Audio Device driver handling the speakers. It was reinstalled and updated several times during troubleshooting, but still doesn't appear. Currently visible are Digital Audio (S/PDIF) and a wireless headset. Updated May 16, 2025 by OmfgLasers.
Yea, it looks like there is a headphone jack on the monitor. So, go from the "Line Out" jack on the MOBO to the headphone jack on the monitor? That might be a workaround, but I really want to fix the issue in general and not have to rely on a workaround.
It was a problem with the AMD audio driver. I updated it back to version 24.3.1, and after restarting, everything functioned properly again. The monitor was recognized as an output device. Driver version 25.5.1 seems to have some issues now. Surprised I hadn't tried that sooner. Appreciate the help from everyone!
