Hey, I was just enjoying some tunes when I encountered this bizarre scene. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but it’s really tough to deal with. It seems odd that Microsoft didn’t check this out—maybe it’s linked to how the resolution is scaled. I’m using a Dell XPS 9370 with a 4K screen, which might be the reason.

That's odd, I don't have the same interface for my volume control. Are you using tablet mode? Just curious. I do know a small tool that can restore the old Windows 7 volume settings if you're interested. Searching for "winaerotweaker" is a good idea. It's a handy program with that feature available. No way to fully resolve your problem since I can't recreate it.

It seems like you're experiencing persistent problems that feel like they're affecting your system in strange ways. You mentioned a possible "haunted hardware" scenario, which suggests the issue might be tied to lingering or corrupted components. After trying a fresh installation on your laptop, the problem still persists, indicating deeper or more complex hardware-related issues.

The issue, similar to the screen brightness icon not displaying on brightness levels across Windows 8.1/10 devices, has existed since version 8.1. It seems unlikely Microsoft prioritizes this fix. You're welcome to share your experience on the Feedback Hub; if others report it, it may get addressed. Based on my observation, the problem likely involves a rounding error related to a half-pixel adjustment tied to DPI scaling settings. The control could be slightly misaligned—perhaps shifted by about 1 pixel or even just a bit wider than intended.
