Windows 10: Some keyboard inputs work in specific apps but fail in the OSK environment.
I encountered this problem a bit recently on my computer, but turning it off and on again resolved it. A coworker has had a similar experience, so I’m curious about how common this is. The concern involves keyboard inputs only working in specific programs or applications. Windows 10 seems to be losing the ability to register keyboard input within the operating system itself, while other software still functions properly. For instance, pressing the Windows key opens the taskbar normally, but typing characters doesn’t register. However, when using Chrome, I can type and see the characters appear correctly. OSK shows that certain key presses—like SHIFT, Windows Key, CTRL, CAPS Lock—are recognized on the GUI, though regular characters aren’t showing up as expected. It seems like a recent update or driver change might be affecting input device recognition. I’d appreciate any insights or feedback from others who have noticed similar issues.
