Absolutely, everyone requires security patches, especially those linked to the internet. Not updating leaves you vulnerable, it also undermines collective protection and increases risks for others. While some can apply updates themselves, many lack the knowledge, motivation, or understanding to do so properly.

And the P in PC usually means personal—probably not something most people prefer. I think critical patches are a good idea, they should be enforced. No one wants another WannaCry incident, but Microsoft seems to be getting careless lately. This is my PC, and I want full control over what gets installed and when, not Microsoft or anyone else.

Some things are inherently selfish and you can't demand them in a linked environment. "No one wants another WannaCry incident, but I’m still going to push it through because I’m after it." So essentially, you’re admitting your stance lacks logic yet refusing to back it up.

Hey, I understand your point. I provided clear examples of PCs that don’t require urgent updates. Not every machine needs constant upgrades, particularly if its main use is streaming YouTube videos. These discussions aren’t about winning; they’re just about sharing ideas and staying informed. What you’re discussing sounds more like a debate.
