the only thing I recall is new windows updates and an nvidia driver release. i restarted my pc after 4-5 days because the sound was crackling on my g35. the cpu usage stayed around 20% when i moved the mouse over chrome, and it dropped to zero when i moved the mouse on any app or overlay. after removing the rams and resetting bios, i reinstalled the nvidia software from scratch, but the same issue persisted. a patch is expected next week for my 1070 zotac amp extreme.

The program or process is using a lot of the CPU's processing power.

I also faced this problem with my PC. After investigating, I realized it was linked to the Logitech software (G430). I removed it, reinstalled the audio drivers, rebooted, and then reinstalled the software again. Everything functioned properly and CPU usage returned to normal. Make sure to use the most recent version of the Logitech software.

Everything running without CPU usage seems to be consuming more power unexpectedly. I own a 7700k and Gigabyte Z270 gaming PC, equipped with a GSKILL 3200MHz processor and 32GB RAM. I reinstalled the chipset drivers but didn’t see any improvement. Chrome performance drops from around 2% to about 25%. Normally, I play Wow at 15-20% CPU load, but it jumps to 60%. After removing my Logitech software, the latest version is 8.91.48. I’m planning to test with a stereo headset before installing or using it and will post updates here.

Uninstall the Logitech sound, reinstall via stereo, or reverting to Logitech didn’t help.

it gets even worse when you switch apps or use different software. after removing the old mouse, I still faced the same issue with the new one.

It improved significantly after uninstalling the Nvidia HDMI Audio Driver and terminating certain services. I'll keep sharing updates. P.S. Don't forget about Nvidia.

Run a clean session with only Microsoft apps active and turn off any suspicious startup entries in msconfig, or simply turn them off completely.
