Hey there, I've tested it. What occurs when I select to update security settings? It affects multiple files, pagefile, programfiles/windows defender, etc., but ownership remains with others. Some issues arise, like the error message from C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\AMMonitoring Install.mof stating "Failed to Enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied." This is what we aim to resolve if you're following along.

It seems a complete reinstall might be necessary. Ensure you use the most recent installation media, avoiding earlier versions. Modern Microsoft updates often introduce bugs, making each major Windows 10 release unstable for me. If the problem persists, consider older versions like Windows 7 or 8.1. You can reach out to Microsoft support for assistance, who may use remote access to resolve the issue.

I completed the full reinstall yesterday. It functioned properly for a day before I started experiencing issues again with bug check 7e and lost permissions. I’m starting to suspect the system I’m using might be a replacement for my X99 setup. Before switching to the Kaby Lake system on my main rig, I hadn’t installed an NVME drive—I only had a standard Samsung Evo 850. After moving my X99 out and adding the Kaby Lake, I upgraded to an NVME drive. Once installed, everything seems to be working, though. The Samsung 960 Evo NVME drive appears to be functioning correctly according to Samsung Magician, and my memory tests with Crucial Ballistix Elite 2666 also passed.

After updating the post, the system froze once more. Restarted it and now desktop icons appear, but nothing shows up—can’t reach the start menu or anything similar. The text is blank. It seems the NVME drive might be the problem. I plan to reinstall it on a standard 850 EVO SSD to test.
