You're adjusting to Windows 10 after switching from Windows 7, which had limitations for certain apps. On Windows 7 you managed CPU usage with a power plan capping it at 80%, keeping performance stable enough for gaming. Now you're trying to maintain consistent performance without overheating, especially during fullscreen or high-turbo games. You're wondering if you can force a power plan to stay active and ignore the system's attempts to throttle it.

I managed to figure it out. I switched most of the power plans to use 5%-80% and it’s now consistent. It was the "high performance" plan that really boosted my CPU and kept it at full speed. If I had chosen differently, I’d be glad!
