Windows 10 now has a new primary system and won't allow access to the local account.
I switched from Windows 7 to 10 with a fresh installation and set up a local account. Everything works as expected, but when I started up today I noticed the system asks me to log in as "Matt Craig." I don’t recognize that name and the only change was using an Ethernet connection. It seems "Matt Craig" now controls my machine? There’s no way to log in with a local account or any other option. I’m locked out! If anyone knows how to access the system or if you’re "Matt Craig" and want to reclaim your laptop, I’m happy to help.
That's a bit of a playful twist on AI, isn't it? It sounds like you're referencing some futuristic tech humorously.
Did anyone tamper with your computer before it stopped working and when "Matt Craig" assumed control? If you enter a Microsoft account, it might be locked there now. Another chance is trying to change the user or enter safe mode at startup to test local access. If that doesn’t work, boot into the Windows installation media and use the command prompt to set up a new user or a Linux bootable tool. A less risky step would be reaching out to Microsoft support—locating their phone number is the toughest part. They likely have useful information and their chat or phone support can be quite helpful.
I'll just reinstall the wet mess... Moving admin accounts isn't advisable.
