Hello, I searched the forums for similar experiences but didn’t find any helpful answers. I’m trying to fix a problem with my prebuilt Skytech PC that’s been working well for over a year. After a recent Windows update, it keeps rebooting immediately after logging in—showing the Windows logo and only displaying the restart menu. Previously, it would boot within a few minutes, indicating an issue with the update. I’ve tried uninstalling the update, flashing the BIOS, using another PC to reset Windows, cleaning drives with a media tool, changing the power supply, swapping RAM, and even moving RAM slots, but nothing works. The system stays in BIOS indefinitely without launching any OS, whether it’s a SSD, HDD, or USB drive. I can only run memory tests like memtest86, and even trying to boot a Linux distro from USB doesn’t help. I’ve reformatted several drives, yet they still won’t start up. The older PC’s drives seem fine, so I’m not sure if hardware is the problem.

Have you considered starting in safe mode via the BIOS or placing your OS drive at the top of the boot sequence? If neither works, try disconnecting the PSU and removing the motherboard battery to reset the BIOS settings. It seems the problem might be with your BIOS or the motherboard itself.

I've attempted to reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery and tried booting with one drive at a time. I'm still unsure about getting into safe mode through the BIOS settings, as none of the options are visible. My suspicion is it's related to BIOS or MOBO, since trying to boot into Ubuntu from USB just brings me back to the GRUB screen.

Press Shift+F8 or F8 at startup. Enter safe mode if possible. Run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. After completion, type sfc /scannow and press Enter. Restart the PC and verify login functionality. If unsuccessful, make a bootable USB of Windows 10 and boot from it using the provided link. On installation, select Repair. Confirm if the problem resolves. If not, proceed with a clean install via the Microsoft support page.

I tried to start safely, but it ends up restarting rather than opening Windows properly.

I would clear every drive and partition from your BIOS and attempt a new Windows installation once more. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/cre...

I've needed to work from another computer since even attempting to start up via USB to wipe and reinstall Windows keeps the system rebooting. It seems I can't boot into anything, whether from a drive or USB at the moment. Even trying an Ubuntu install on USB causes the PC to restart again. Right now I'm stuck in the BIOS, trying to figure things out. On the other hand, I used the media creation tool on a different machine to perform a complete clean and reset of Windows on two drives, but even then the issue persisted on my problematic PC. It now boots and functions properly on my other device.

It seems like the system is not functioning properly. The likely solution is to swap it out.

Unfortunately as said above it is definitely a MOBO malfunction. I would call Skytech tomorrow and see if the parts warranty is still valid. If so get it RMA

It looks like a defective motherboard. Being unable to boot via USB means any drive or software problem is ruled out. This points to a hardware fault, likely in the motherboard or CPU, though the CPU usually doesn’t fail. If it’s under warranty, you might replace the BIOS chip—evidence suggests this is the culprit. These parts are easy to find on eBay and should be affordable for this model.
