Some folks refer to Windows 10 as MSX (Microsoft X). The start menu can feel odd at times. There was a fix for it, but it was only available during the tech preview and I no longer have the details.

It's named Windows 10. A shorter version is Win10. MSX refers to an old computer design from the 1980s and early 1990s. It was widely used in various parts of the world, boasted a good collection of games, and many people are familiar with it or have used it. Comparing it to Windows 10 is similar to saying PS4.

Based on feedback from another forum, I understand the MSX concept, some NES ports, and the top Metal Gear release on it. I discovered a script to restore the start menu in certain situations. You can launch an elevated PowerShell window by typing the command and pressing Enter, then use Add-AppxPackage to disable development mode and register the manifest file. To access elevated PowerShell, search for PowerShell in the taskbar, select ‘Windows PowerShell’, and right-click to run it as administrator.

It has occurred to me before, especially when switching from Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10. Occasionally it happens after updating the operating system. I've tried many online fixes, but none resolved my issues. The most effective solution seems to be backing up your data and doing a fresh install of Windows 10. Unfortunately, this is often the only way to address certain problems. I wish you success in finding another approach, as this can be quite frustrating.

Launch the task manager, turn off Cortana, and attempt again. This issue is recognized as a known problem.

reached out to Microsoft directly... they explained a few "solutions" (which I had already addressed) and then advised reinstalling Windows 10... so yeah...
