To apply this, simply upgrade to Windows 11. Launch regedit, go to the path: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup. If needed, create the "MoSetup" key (Right-click > New). Set the DWORD value AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU to 1, then restart and update.
This guidance is helpful—I hadn’t really considered it. But I’m unsure if Windows 10 has been simplified for IoT devices since I haven’t explored them much. @Sensha here’s the official Microsoft link; I tried the IoT image on a few PCs for work, though I feel it may miss some features compared to the standard version. I’d suggest you check out the enterprise LTSC before the IoT edition: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcent...enterprise
You don’t have to do anything extra. Simply connect your PC to your Microsoft account and you’ll be able to access it for free.
These "hardware requirements" seem like a strategy for Microsoft to regain lost income after they stopped aggressively tackling OS piracy during Windows 10. Windows 10 and 11 have mostly been free unless you chose to customize the interface. What amount of money do you think they lost? I've used Windows 10 and 11 without personalization over time. They eventually recognized that battling piracy was unsustainable. Remember how they struggled with Windows 7 before giving up? It feels obvious now—fighting software piracy isn't working, so shifting focus to hardware might be the solution. To me, it's clear and straightforward: can't win against piracy, so let's target hardware sales and ensure full profit for Microsoft. Haha!
They aim for profit, and this has always been the case. But is TPM really enhancing a PC's security?
