I have a Windows 7 PC that I can upgrade to Windows 10 whenever I want, but I haven’t done it yet. I’m thinking about building a new computer and wondered if I could transfer the full Windows 10 version from my old PC to the new one for free. Is it possible to keep my current system with Windows 7 and instead install Windows 10 on the new build without paying? Please let me know if this seems like a silly idea.

You simply transfer the HDD or SSD from your previous setup into the new one during assembly.

Set up Windows 7 on your latest machine
Use the provided Windows 7 key for installation
Progress to Windows 10 via the update process (or apply a forced upgrade)

You may be able to do it, but it's not recommended. Changing the hard drive from one PC to another that already has the operating system can lead to major issues or prevent the system from starting. Make sure to install it correctly.
