So here we are once more, facing another issue with Windows. The problem started when I powered off my PC and then tried to turn it back on the next morning. Windows displayed an unusual boot sequence, and my LEDs didn’t function properly while all fans ran at maximum speed. I rebooted, but things took a turn for the worse. Windows became trapped on the splash screen with the spinning circle. I checked numerous online fixes, but nothing resolved the issue. After hours of waiting, I finally got into Windows, though everything felt off—fans were blasting, the camera wasn’t opening, LEDs were off, and Explorer crashed instantly. On startup, it would say “Attempting to Repair K:” indicating a 3-month-old 12TB Seagate IronWolf Pro drive, which stores all my movies, videos, and photos. I ran chkdsk on the drive, but it reported errors about the file system type and volume label. The problem seems to be something serious, possibly data corruption or failure. I’m not sure if it’s just a bad drive or something more critical, especially since it’s been sitting for three months. I’m considering a full Windows reset, though I’m worried it might erase all my programs. My other drives are still working fine—512GB Samsung 960Pro, 1TB 850 EVO, and a 2TB WD Blue from four years ago. I’ll try disconnecting the problematic drive to see if I can access Windows through another computer, hoping that way I won’t lose everything. Please let me know what you think.
It seems we're talking about the IronWolf Drive. I wasn't expecting it to start corrupting itself after only three months. I'm hoping Seagate will respond quickly and there are some fresh, significant recordings available on that device. Fingers crossed Seagate Support is helpful. Wow, I'm completely surprised!
