PC with Win10. The secondary HDD in the mobile slot vanished from the Win Explorer and BlueRay unit as well. It wasn’t listed in the Device Manager either. I replaced the SATA socket on the motherboard for the secondary HDD, and then it was discovered. Later it disappeared again. Both devices were found in the BIOS. I switched to new SATA cables for both drives, and Windows now recognized HDD2, though the BlueRay drive is still missing.

I opened services.msc and turned off "Shell Hardware Detection." After restarting, the BlueRay drive appeared in Windows Explorer. I re-enabled it, but it disappeared once more. Now I see it in Device Manager—HDD2 has a drive letter D. The BlueRay drive should have letter E, but it’s not showing up.

I tried using a USB thumb drive, which got drive letter F, but E remains absent. Anyone have any advice on how to fix this?

Is this the identical PC that was repaired and is now experiencing issues once more? https://forums.

It isn't that bad. I still have two (Win 11) BD drives and one HDR with the correct bios to read and write, but not view HDR 4k Blu-ray disks. All internal plus Blu-ray USB type C external drives work. Also, a backup PC running Windows 10 with one internal and USB drive is optional. After changing the cable and trying another MB SATA output, it seems the controller might be failing. Consider using a third cable and a known working SATA port. Keep in mind that under certain conditions SATA outputs can be disabled—check your user manual.
