Could it be malware? Otherwise, consider reinstalling your mouse and graphics drivers.

GAHH! No worries! I didn’t get ESET NOD32 for free. Appreciate the advice!

You might consider using an extra storage device to perform a clean installation of Windows, which would eliminate hardware issues. It’s possible the problem lies with your SSD or HDD—some units were only functional until they failed.

Viruses aren't considered malware. While most antivirus programs can identify common threats like malware and spyware, they aren't specifically designed for that purpose.

The main idea is that it's merely the name of the software... it safeguards against malware (hopefully).

Perform a malware and virus scan, reinstall mouse drivers, and reset everything if needed. Run the built-in Windows 10 defender antivirus—it’s sufficient. No need for expensive versions.

It seems like a driver-related problem. Numerous users running Windows have their applications loaded directly into the kernel space, which means memory leaks can severely impact system performance. A bug affecting performance can cause the whole system to slow down or crash. Task Manager may not accurately reflect high CPU usage. Occasionally, you might notice the "System" process (kernel) consuming excessive resources. The challenge lies in identifying the specific driver causing the issue. Mouse and/or keyboard software/driver chipset drivers could be potential culprits.

Run DDU and reinstall the drivers. Turn off hardware acceleration in your browsers. It should work now.
