Windows 10 is damaged, unclear cause unknown
In short, I updated Windows 10 and a graphics driver, restarted it, but then lost admin rights. Whenever I attempted to run tasks as administrator, I encountered a File System Error (-1073740791). I followed standard troubleshooting steps found online, including using safe mode with admin privileges, resetting the drive, and then creating a new PIN. Each time I tried a PIN, it kept asking for another one without warning. I’ve experimented with various PINs that met the criteria. Now I’m considering reverting to a previous Windows version on a USB drive and using safe mode again. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
To fix the problem quickly, reinstall Windows using a USB flash drive.
If you're running a Linux environment similar to POP OS, you can set up a workaround where sticky keys are mapped to CMD with admin privileges. Then you can generate a local admin account, modify its settings, or assign a local password so you can log in without needing remote access.
