The tech preview is progressing smoothly overall. I've encountered a few minor problems, mainly because I'm testing it in development mode. Functionally, it works just like Windows 98.1, though. Cortana isn't very useful yet—build 9926 brings her to life—but I think she'll shine on the official release.

I really enjoyed the beginning menus in Windows 7 and appreciated their return, since I didn't like the interface in Windows 8.1.

Sure, I understand. It would be helpful if Cortana becomes more practical and the search options are fast and efficient for those who find them useful.

I believe it's extremely disappointing. They entirely deleted the start screen which I actually really enjoyed, and the alternative method to restore it doesn't fully recover its features. The new icons also seem poor. I think Microsoft was overly swayed by the demand for a fresh Windows 7 and completely damaged the successor to Windows 8.1, which I feel is significantly better than Windows 7. I struggled with Windows 10 for over ten minutes, and I couldn't tolerate using Windows 7 for a few days before needing to reinstall and wipe the OS I installed multiple times. I'm excited about Spartan because I think most other browsers, except Safari, are just subpar.

Windows 8.1 seems to be trailing 7 by a wide margin. The Metro interface looks quite outdated, especially for professional settings.

Modern UI interfaces aren't always perfect, but the home screen is truly impressive. It feels like a second desktop where you can sort icons yet still keep your main workspace tidy. Plus, the design stays consistent—every time you change your settings, everything rearranges itself automatically, so you don’t have to reorder icons manually. As an update noted, Windows 7 struggled with multiple monitors, as no app or tweak could fully resolve the issue of identical taskbar layouts across different screens.
