It's just that it seems... unlikely. Do you have Windows Insider status? maybe your PC is downloading a new build of W10?
I was frustrated with the situation too and switched back to Windows 7 this afternoon. It removed my programs, assuming they were malicious or pirated. I also experienced frequent interruptions where it would force me out of games for random updates that I couldn't stop—this resulted in a 7-day ban in CS:GO once. The system would crash and shut down my PC repeatedly. Every startup consumed nearly all disk space. Compared to Windows 7, it was extremely slow and created many issues. I performed a clean installation twice. I’m using a 2TB hard drive since I don’t have an SSD and was trying to stay within budget.
Also heard about the roumor downloads through Windows updates to grab 7-8.1 systems with large 8-10Gb files for Windows 10 without prompting... and I'm working from the OEM side where updates are turned off like this:
