Windows 10 home frequently stops and then displays a system crash screen when attempting to start.
Current approach mainly involves restarting in safe mode, removing recent Windows updates, and then trying to boot again. This pattern continues despite past stability with Windows 10 Pro. Your system might still be affected by background processes or lingering issues from previous updates. Checking for unresolved driver conflicts or hardware problems could help. Also, running a full system scan might reveal hidden conflicts.
I attempted that, but: the system automatically adds the Home version
And when using a valid professional key, the switch fails with a message like "already activated with Home."
I performed that action, but the system started on its own (probably because the motherboard has a hidden key). I’m not sure how to prevent it.
Windows isn't designed to be removed via a Microsoft account. Have you attempted to reinstall Windows without one?
I'll check in an hour and let you know if it works. From what I remember, the Pro key was linked to your account and needed signing in before it would switch to Home. I'm expecting it to take longer since I have a lot of files on my PC. I've tried other solutions already, and this might be the fix.
