Windows 10 has sleep-related problems.
Hi, I tried reinstalling Windows 10 on my MSI GP62 6QF laptop from scratch. I didn’t install any programs and just wanted a clean start. The issue is that when I close the lid or put it to sleep, I see those lines in the picture. Maybe there’s something missing from the MSI setup? Could be an update in Windows 10 causing this problem? It might also be related to some proprietary MSI software not being installed properly. Let me know if you need advice on fixing it. Alex P.S.: To fix it, I have to hold the power and restart the whole laptop.
It looks like a graphics glitch. As @Ethocreeper suggested, confirm your GPU drivers are current. If not, disable Windows from closing the lid and use the shortcut to put it to sleep.
All Nvidia drivers are present and functioning properly. The MSI components were included during installation, but they remain unchanged when using the sleep function with hot keys.
The reason you're experiencing issues might be related to running a factory OS. I'm surprised you purchased a laptop that didn't reinstall Windows immediately. If this only happens when waking from sleep, avoid using sleep mode. Check your power settings and adjust the close lid action to do nothing—it still powers off the screen. If you left it long enough to worry about battery life, shut it down instead.
It came with Windows 10, so I thought it would work the same as the desktop version. But the problem is, I’m now at university and I need to easily move my laptop around and shut it down to save my work. It’s really frustrating because I can’t just close it and leave; I have to save everything every time, which is a real hassle.
