Hi there! I’m having trouble with my AMD setup. Windows 10 won’t update even though it’s a fresh build. After reformatting my PC, the problem persists. My processor is an AMD 8350, and during gaming the system will reboot and say it can’t finish changes or something similar. Update 2018-01, 02, 03 Cumulative for Windows 10 on x64 doesn’t install and always forces a restart when I’m in the game. Anyone else have experienced this with an AMD PC? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

It could relate to how old the system is. Going backward in compatibility is limited. It's not perfect, but you might pause updates and run them yourself on a regular basis.

Might be a damaged file, it happened to me too. Have you used the Windows update troubleshooter? You can check it out here: https://pureinfotech.com/reset-windows-u...-installs/

Restart only during gameplay. It seems to indicate a cooling problem rather than a restart need.

I've already tried this, unfortunately it didn't work. It doesn't make any sense. @GoodBytes it goes to the reboot screen and keeps trying to install the update repeatedly. @Windows7ge my brother has the same version as me, he hasn't reformatted in over a year and his system is fully functional.

I believe there might be an issue with the software. Have you checked the Windows updates menu and clicked on "Check for updates"? That could help resolve this problem.

It just says awaiting restart I click restart but it does the same thing, it gets to 96% and it rolls back.

Last weekend I discovered the solution—I signed up for the Windows Insider Program, which pushed all the necessary updates. Then a fresh version of Windows 10 (version 1803) was installed, and everything functions properly. In fact, it runs smoother than the older 1703 release.
