Turn off Windows Update and Cryptographic Services in services.msc. Remove the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 folders. Restart your system, then re-enable both services and attempt to check for updates once more. Edited July 14, 2018 by Tabs more info
I faced the same problem until I tried the Windows 10 update tool and removed all extra peripheral programs. Disabling or uninstalling things like Corsair, Logitech, Wallpaper Engine, and GeForce Experience helped. Also, unplugging my keyboard and mouse during updates made a difference.
The latest version is installed, yet the built-in updater indicates otherwise.
Which version are you using now? Have you attempted to install the update manually? The newest is KB4338819 17134.165 for Windows 10 1803. You can obtain the manual update here (select the appropriate cumulative release, avoid delta updates). Also, ensure KB4343669 is installed beforehand.
Updates completed successfully. Appreciate it functioned. Issues remain though...
