My system was updated to Windows 10 Creator today, but it didn’t go smoothly. The network interface was damaged and no connection was established on any card. I had to remove and reinstall the NICs to fix things, though their network settings remained inconsistent. This issue disrupted my online backup software, which detected 20 NICs in the registry and kept switching until it found a working one. I have both an Intel NIC and a high-performance 2000 NIC built into a PCI slot, both affected. Have others experienced NIC problems after the update? It seems to be resolved now, but the network properties are still problematic.

It's strange since I own the E2200 and the upgrade went smoothly.

Launch an admin command prompt and execute "SFC /SCANNOW". You might need several scanning cycles followed by reboots to resolve issues. It could be worth a try. Have you attempted reinstalling drivers through Device Manager?

Thanks for your feedback. The update process was quite frustrating, no matter the network problems. I went back to the earlier version which worked fine. Windows Defender's intrusive behavior made it hard to disable completely; pop-ups kept appearing. The firewall needed to run even when disabled, and it seemed like other services were interfering with its function. It's strange how they label these as malware (_a784). I also noticed the app was slow. "I have a bad vibe about this!" Upgrading felt like a step backward. I quickly switched back to an older version since new releases added unnecessary services I didn't need. Feeling better now on the previous build, with more control over what ran and when. Remembering when Windows wasn't free and gave me that sense of control was comforting. I'd rather pay for Windows without all these unwanted data-snatching services. With my own firewall and AV tools, Defender can block them effectively. Anyway, I'm about to vent a bit—this is getting intense!
