I'm trying to upgrade my PC to Windows 10 since most games are only available on the Windows Store. I'm using the media creation tool for the process, but it keeps freezing at "Getting things ready." I'm unsure if this is normal or if something is interfering. The specs of my machine are already updated in my profile. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

For optimal performance, perform a fresh installation instead of an upgrade. https://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to-...indows-10/

Are you switching from a Pro version of Windows 7? I’m not entirely sure if the upgrade you’re using is the right one. Just checked quickly, and it seems fine. The free upgrade has ended—you’ll need a license now. Follow the recommended clean install.

He should install the official OS from Microsoft's own platform, avoiding unreliable third-party sources.

I might attempt to download once more. Your file could be damaged.

Download the Windows 10 ISO file from Microsoft's official site. This is the 1709 international edition for 64-bit architecture.

The media creation tool receives data straight from MS without needing a browser download or random site. The best approach should be a fresh installation, not just an upgrade. Windows problems will likely persist no matter the OS source if an upgrade is attempted.
