Recently, my CPU fans have stayed at full speed and never slowed down, even after adjusting the BIOS fan settings. The GPU has also been running much slower lately, stuck at 50% video decode despite what the task manager shows. I don’t understand what’s happening and none of my fixes have helped.

Use the resource monitor to identify any programs consuming excessive resources. Alternatively, start with safe mode and review the statistics. If the system behaves normally there, it likely points to a program you need to remove.

You can locate the resource monitor by searching in the start menu. It offers a more detailed task manager experience. For safe mode, perform this: Restart the computer. On the sign-in screen, keep the Shift key pressed and then click Power > Restart. Once the computer restarts, go to the Choose an Option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.

After completing several steps, I observed mixed feedback: the resource monitor indicated low usage (3-4%), yet maximum speed or turbo was reported at 100%. When I entered save mode and confirmed everything correctly, the system displayed an incorrect password. I haven’t tried a full reboot yet, though I suspect the turbo setting was unusual because I disabled core performance in my BIOS. Edited May 26, 2022 by Brysrol16
