I personally don't rely on Cortana mainly because of Bing and the privacy issues it raises. But you shouldn't complain if the firm pushes its offerings to customers. It's similar to how Google would force Chrome-books to use Google Search—no one would object; that's Microsoft's approach with Bing. They aim to boost their services, especially since Bing now makes a profit thanks to Windows 10.

Cortana relies on Bing for its search capabilities. Bing works well, though it isn’t perfect. I’ve tried both engines and found more accurate results with Bing in most cases. The performance varies depending on the query. I generally favor Bing about 55 out of 100 times.

Launch Task Manager and display additional information. Click on Cortana and choose Open file location. Locate the Cortana folder, right-click it, and select Rename. It’s best to append ".bak" to the folder name for easy recovery if needed. If renaming fails due to the folder being in use, return to Task Manager, click Cortana, and select End task. After the task finishes, go back to the Folder In Use window and try again. The folder should update, and Cortana will stop launching that task.
