I'm using Windows 10 Pro with a slower hard drive, and it's causing occasional delays in updates. Right now the system is configured for delayed updates, metered connections, and restart notifications. Even with these settings it still updates at inconvenient times. You might want to explore additional options to limit automatic updates, or consider reverting to Windows 8.1 if you prefer a smoother experience.

Use the gpedit.msc tool. It functions only on Windows 10 Pro. Nice you have it!

I think I'll give it a shot when I have some spare time and let me know if it's effective.

The process will function correctly, though you can't choose options in the Windows Update panel. It will display hidden selections instead. Please share your findings.

Turn off the Windows update service via Control Panel, then disable it in Services, and finally reboot to make it permanently inactive until you reactivate it.
