Hello. After a fresh Windows 10 setup and using MSI Afterburner, I encountered a launch issue with the message "the application has failed to launch because its side by side configuration is incorrect." This problem appears linked to missing C++ 2008. The same error also shows up when trying to open Alan Wake, which also relied on the C++ 2008 redist. I've downloaded both C++ 2008 and 2010 versions in X86 and X64 formats, but installation still fails with the specified error. Once C++ 2010 is installed, everything works fine. The error during installation reads: "C++ 2008 Error 997. overlapped I/O operation is in progress." Any suggestions on resolving this would be greatly appreciated, especially since I’m considering reverting to Windows 8.1 soon. I’ve also tried installing in safe mode, but that brought up another issue about MSInstaller not functioning there.

It seems the main users are still unresolved. I’d go back to Windows 8.1 and hold off for a few months until they resolve the issues!

Afterburner functions properly on Windows 10... Consider installing the C++ 2008 redist x86 and its service pack. Links provided: Microsoft download pages.

These are the programs currently present on my Windows 10 installation, with most added by additional software.

Sure, I can help with that. Just say Cortana "installed updates" and I’ll retrieve the details for you.

Have you ever run a registry cleaner on older Windows versions prior to upgrading? Have you experienced malware or viruses during previous installations that you managed to remove? From what I see, it seems like the system was damaged, making a fresh installation more straightforward.
