Windows 10 black screen during installation on a bootable USB drive
I was organizing my old computer so I installed Windows 10 and made a bootable USB drive. When I tried to start the USB, I encountered a black screen after the blue Windows logo appeared. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I waited about 20 minutes but nothing changed—just a complete black screen. The USB appears to be working, with lights on the keyboard and mouse, so I’m unsure what’s happening. I’m using a pirated version of Windows 7, but I plan to upgrade to a genuine Windows 10. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Your equipment should work smoothly with Windows 10 installation. I recommend re-downloading Windows 10 from the official site and generating a new bootable USB drive.
I just repeated the process twice and ended up with a black screen right after the blue Windows 10 logo appeared. I don’t understand why this happens when I can use a bootable USB drive on my new PC. I’m really confused about this issue. Maybe I should try burning it onto a CD or DVD instead. Updated November 14, 2017 by Amenadiel
Issue Resolved! The fix involves taking out the GPU and linking the monitor to the motherboard for a short time.
Hello, the same problem is happening with your latest installation. When using the Windows Media Creation USB, you reach stage I and encounter a black screen along with error code 0xc0000229. Are you getting the genuine Windows 10 boxed version with the USB or are you downloading it? You might want to consider purchasing the boxed copy instead.
I was running a genuine copy of Windows 10 on a bootable USB made with Media Creation Tool. There were no error messages. Once the Windows 10 logo appeared and the system went black, nothing happened. I resolved it by using the built-in graphics during installation instead of my video card.
