Hi, I've been struggling for about 13 hours trying to get my new computer up and running. Eventually, I managed to install the motherboard drivers. Next, I tried the graphics card drivers, but the computer didn't recognize it. I found online suggestions that updating Windows might help, so I kept doing updates, each taking around an hour and asking if I should restart now or later. When prompted, I restarted and went through several stages—Windows updating with a blue loading screen, then a black screen with a cursor before finishing.

It’s frustrating because my graphics card isn’t showing up at all, even though it was visible on other devices. The NVIDIA drivers weren’t found or compatible with the latest Windows update, and I’ve checked multiple videos but nothing seems to work. I’ve tried everything I could find, and I’m really disappointed since I just finished building my PC yesterday. I’m considering switching to Windows 8, but I’m also upset about losing progress from removing parts from another computer. I know my card is there, it just didn’t show up during setup. I’ve seen people suggest uninstalling it and restarting, but that didn’t work either. I’m completely confused and would really appreciate any advice or help you can offer. Thanks a lot.

Firstly how long have you waited while the black screen with cursor is shown, its possible that something is still being installed at that time and if your assuming the worst and hitting the reset button premature its never going to complete. Secondly there have been known issues with the Nvidia driver supplied by Windows update, try if you can to install the driver from the Nvidia website instead. I would suggest getting everything running and windows updated using the onboard GPU first, then installing the Nvidia GPU and installing drivers.

Did you perform a fresh OS installation? When you refer to motherboard drivers, are you talking about chipset drivers specifically? If yes, did you choose the correct ones from the right source, like the newest AMD options on their site? Also, Swaffy is right—installing GPU drivers from AMD or Nvidia is generally preferable over using Windows updates or default drivers.
